Leicester Bars

Newly opened Leicester bars worth checking out!

Who’s up for a great night out? Well why not book a taxi to ensure you make the most of it!

We’re loving the nightlife scene in the city right now and even more Leicester bars are popping up by the second.

In addition to booking an airport taxi, Kirby Taxis customers quite often book us to be their chauffeur for a night out in Leicester. This way they can take full advantage of all the cool cocktails and other top tipples that will ensure their evening goes with a swing.

Our great city truly is a thriving hub of activity, so if you’re on the hunt for a new haunt, take a look at these newly opened Leicester bars worth checking out!

King Richard III

This is a beautifully restored Victorian gastro pub in Highcross Street which focuses on fresh, locally sourced food from nearby farms and has a great location in the heart of Leicester city centre.

Carefully selected craft beers and wines are on offer and they even use a bespoke robata grill – effectively a three tiered Japanese barbecue which gives a beautiful smoky flavour to their fish, meat and vegetables.

One of the biggest things that TripAdvisor customers seem to rave about is the friendly service and great, laid back atmosphere here. Certainly don’t only reserve a trip for night time though – their Sunday roasts are delish!

Knight And Garter

Keeping with the theme of yesteryear, ‘Leicester’s carefully considered pub’ is the Knight and Garter on the city’s new Market Square off Hotel Street.

Mixing historic with state of the art, this place is gorgeously designed and fast becoming renowned for its excellent range of boutique drinks – many can’t be found elsewhere in the city.

Their unique Budweiser Budvar Kräusened, for example, is matured, unfiltered and unpasteurised beer, served straight from a giant copper beer kettle in bespoke single pint stein glasses.

Check out ‘Drinks for the City’ on a Friday from 5pm until 9pm with music from DJ Fitz, two for £10 Bartenders Choice Cocktails and complementary nibbles

The Fish and The Chip

Potentially saving the best for the last here, because The Fish and The Chip is a super cool new place to be.

This small, family run business specialises in great cocktails and a range of classic and street inspired food that you’ll love, whether it’s a weekend night, or you’re heading for a spot of lunch in the week.

Unlike many other restaurants, it looks to cater for everyone foodwise, including those with food allergies – that’s why all the batter is gluten free and everything is fried using rapeseed oil.

Add to this the funky decor, delicious homemade lemonade and awesome cocktail list and you’ve got it made. You can even learn how to make cocktails of your own with their special masterclasses.
